International Day of Languages
For the fifth time, on the International Day of Languages (September 26th and 27th) about 1000 primary school children – including our youngsters who are doing their internship at the Social Bookstore – had the opportunity to take a “language bath” in one of Berlin’s numerous partner libraries. There, staff members of the various EUNIC members introduced them to their language and shared interesting facts about their countries of origin and Europe.
On the afternoon of September 26th and under the motto “We pedal for multilingualism” directors, language officers of the European cultural institutes EUNIC Berlin and their partners – from the Representation of the EU Commission and the Central and Regional Library – once again rode through the city of Berlin on specially designed velotaxis and bicycles. At stops in public places in the city, passers-by and people interested in languages could participate in various language games (including a multilingual giant scrabble and a language quiz).
